Musical Talent


Betsy is a talented musician and a St. Albans native. See the release below sent by the Vermont Youth Orchestra on her upcoming performance:

Saint Albans Clarinetist Performs at Vermont Youth Philharmonia Spring Concert

Colchester, Vermont - The Vermont Youth Philharmonia, conducted by Anne Decker, presents their Spring Concert at 7:00 pm on Sunday, April 13 at the Elley-Long Music Center at Saint Michael’s College.

Guest clarinetist Elisabeth LeBlanc will join the orchestra to perform Mozart’s Concerto in A Major for Clarinet and Orchestra. A 1995 graduate of the Vermont Youth Orchestra, Ms. LeBlanc is part of a performing duo with pianist Annemieke Spoelstra. She is also an original member of the Heliand Trio, and has appeared as a guest artist with the Rochester Chamber Music Society. In 2006, she performed at the Boris Brott Music Festival in Hamilton, Ontario. She holds degrees in music and orchestral training from The Juilliard School and McGill University. She has studied with Ayako Oshima, Robert Crowley and Simon Aldrich. Born in Canada, Ms. LeBlanc grew up in Saint Albans, where she still resides. She maintains a clarinet studio at the Elley-Long Music Center at Saint Michael’s College.

The concert program also features the Overture from Mozart’s lively The Magic Flute, “Mars, the Bringer of War” from The Planets suite by Gustav Holst, and selections from the popular film Star Wars: The Phantom Menace by John Williams.

Vermont Youth Philharmonia is an orchestra of 80 members. They present three concerts each year, perform during annual school tours and participate in exchanges with other youth orchestras.
