The Group Grows

Last night we had a good crowd for our second figure drawing session with 13 artists participating. We almost ran out of seats! It was especially encouraging to see two local high school students joining the group. Though they were a little wide-eyed and nervous to begin with they quickly eased into it and sketched the two hours away. I remember the feeling from my first figure drawing class in college. I hope to see more students! Our remaining two sessions before the holidays are going to be held on Monday, November 19 from 7-9 and Thursday, December 6 from 7-9.

Study of Man

Steve Jackson, one of the artists who participated in the last figure drawing session, sent me a link to some of the sketches he did. Nice work Steve, can't wait to see more! Next session is November 7, 7-9pm.

Figure Drawing

Last night was our first figure drawing session and it was a lot of fun. All in attendance were in agreement that it had been a long time since we had each been able to do some drawing and we felt a little rusty. But it was great to get back into the swing of things. Our model was fantastic and worked with us on a number of short and long poses. The schedule for the remaining sessions may change (I think I may have scheduled one for Thanksgiving!) so I'll keep people posted. I hope to see more artists next time!

Figure Drawing

I'm happy to annouce four upcoming figure drawing sessions. The first one will be held at the gallery Wednesday October 24, from 7 - 9 pm. Please bring $5 and your drawing materials of choice. I have seating and some easels (though they're a little flimsy) so if you prefer a drawing board, bring that too. There will be four sessions before the holidays to see how it goes, and then we will hopefully hold more in the new year. Each session will start with a variety of poses in the first hour and a longer pose in the second half hour.

The schedule will go:
Wednesday, October 24, 7-9pm
Wednesday, November 7, 7-9pm
Thursday, November 22, 7-9pm
Wednesday, December 5, 7-9pm

Hope to see you there!

Figure Drawing

If anyone is interested in figure drawing sessions, let me know. I'm working out a schedule with a male model and will be holding the sessions on Wednesday nights from 7 to 9 pm. Start date is to be determined. There will be a $5 fee to help cover the cost of the model. Bring your drawing/sketching materials of choice!
